tea time

I have an awesome friend with 3 kids.  I visited her last spring when it was two kids and one on the way, and I couldn't believe when she would get up so early before the kids were even awake.  How could she do this and not want to stay in bed until they got up?  She explained to me it was the only time she had peace and time to read, pray, think, etc.

I understand this now, lol.

L.L.I. hasn't met my baby

3 a.m. musings after over-feeding Little Tea Leaf tonight, and cleaning up/wearing the results:

Things LLI is wrong about

Or

False BF maxims

Or

Things you hear all the time as fact that are not *always* true

In regards to babies and breastfeeding:

You most certainly CAN over feed a BF baby

Sometimes you NEED to watch the clock and NOT your baby (for instance, when they continue to head bang your chest for more milk after nursing so long already)

Pacifiers can be GOOD and do NOT necessarily cause "nipple confusion" (we had a good latch from the start, a pacifier hasn't interfered w our BF) they help satisfy a full baby who just wants to suck!  We waited so long to introduce one that he almost wouldn't take it. So happy he takes one now - he is a calmer happier baby as a result.  In fact, after putting him down he was fussing and after giving him the paci he's quiet and in dreamland (I hope)!

Bottles can also be GOOD - sometimes baby and Mom need a break!

Holding a baby upright for 20-30" after a feeding doesn't always help keep it down, sometimes it's just as well to put them back down after 5-10" or right away if they've burped

things that are true:

Have snax ready by your glider
Nomnomnom

The exhaustion
Is
No joke!  You get thru it tho!

The body really is amazing.

The puke is worth it.

I love my baby.  :)

It's a boy!

Little Tea Leaf arrived at 41w1d, after a protracted (unscheduled) induction for 'low fluid.'  It started w my appointment Fri morning and finally he was born at 6:05 am Sunday.  All that drama aside,

He's a healthy 9 lbs 2 oz, 20.5", 88th percentile!

He's amazing, an angel, and we love him so much.

My mom and hubby are taking care of me and helping w the baby.

I'm pretty wiped out still but happy. Maybe write more birth details later.

jaeger

Well, I haven't updated this in a while.  Hubby is packing up to go to the field for a few days, so I figure there's no time like the present.  He's only going away for 2 nights, but sometimes when he goes even for these little nothing trips I get flashbacks of deployment or something and I just miss him already!

Everything has been going really well.  Baby is healthy and I'm feeling pretty good (knock on wood)!  I finished hypnobabies classes and have been listening to all these relaxing/affirming tracks.  I definitely recommend the course.  I have been a lot more relaxed and centered as a result of the techniques we learned.  I can also now take the most refreshing naps of all time at pretty much the drop of a hat, which I could not do before.  Finally, when I wake up in the night, if I have trouble going back to sleep I use some of the hypnosis techniques or listen to a track and it is amazing.  That is a big change for me.

My parents visited not too long ago and that was so nice.  It was very sad to see them leave.  Then I proceeded to vacillate endlessly about when they should come back.  We finally decided my Mom will fly out 2 weeks after my EDD, then my Dad will fly out a week after that.  Then a week later, they will fly back together.  The goal was time for hubby, baby, and I to be together while he has leave.  Kinda hard to figure out when you don't know when things are going to happen.  Mom has said if I change my mind and want her there sooner, she will be on the next plane out, so that's reassuring.

Hubby and I went on a little babymoon a few weeks ago, too.  We went up to this cabin in the mountains for the weekend, did a little hiking, it was pretty great.

So now I'm making freezer meals and breads at a rather slow rate, hope I can stock a few more things.  Also trying to actually read more of all these baby books I have.   Still teaching a few lessons a week and I also started taking organ lessons!  Hoping to get one or two more of those in before the baby comes.  I'm taking them on this massive massive organ that can truly blow you out of your seat.  Or at least be heard outside.  It's pretty exciting, wonder what the baby thinks about it.

How far along:  36 weeks  (and 1 day)

Total weight gain: hmm....about 27 pounds?  Typing that out is a bit unsettling...although supposedly I'm within the range I "should" be.  I actually bought one of those belly bandit things.  I'm not sure if I can commit to using it?

Maternity clothes:
haha, yes.  In fact, I have a growing pile of maternity items that no longer fit me.  I measured my belly the other day and it was something like 37" or something?  I instantly forgot/blocked it out.  I don't think I'm super huge, but there are definitely people smaller than me, haha.

Stretch marks:
  I don't think so...

Sleep:   Not bad!  I wake up 1-3 times to pee, but that's better than being dehydrated.  I get pretty thirsty.

Best moment of this week:  Let's just go with today:  hubby made us french toast for breakfast.  :)  Or yesterday: we saw Pacific Rim (where this post title comes from) and then walked in a beautiful park afterwards, talked baby names.  That was awesome.  Hubby and I decided we would be excellent jaeger pilots and drift compatible.

Miss anything:  A few days ago I could actually have used a drink, haha.  Haven't really wanted alcohol much otherwise.   Maybe miss running...but realize there's a time for everything.

Movement:  Yes yes yes.  It's pretty great most of the time.  I can see my stomach move too.  There have been a couple times where the baby has been a bit over zealous, haha.

Food cravings:   Watermelon, pineapple - these are still the same!  Also apples. Oh, and last week on the day I would have liked a drink, I instead brought the devil sauce into our home:

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Not really.  Unless I am extremely tired maybe.

Have you started to show yet:
HAHA, yes.  I should just take this question out.

Gender:   Still team green.  Although when we took my parents to an u/s about a month ago, it was definitely a risky environment for my Mom.  Though she claims she couldn't tell what she was looking at.

Labor signs: some Braxton Hicks every once in a while?  maybe?  No real labor signs.  I'm 50% effaced and not dilated, not that it means much.

Belly button in or out:  Out in a big way.

Wedding rings on or off:  on.  Still not clear, do I really have to take those off for the hospital?  Must remember to ask this.

Happy or moody most of the time:   happy.  Strangely, I have been more balanced and happy pregnant than otherwise.

Looking forward to:  Next appointment?  I had the group B strep test last time, hoping that's negative.  There must be something else.  Oh yes.  I ordered this Peter Rabbit wall decal for the nursery.  (that's a photo from the etsy shop, not our nursery)

Once that is up I think we'll be finished with the room.  I like to go in there and just sit and read, it's a nice space I think.

Also looking forward to when I finish going through every random box in the house so that everything we own is completely organized.  Haha.  That is what I would really like to have happen, but not necessarily do.  We'll see.  :)

EGGPLANT

So I haven't updated this in a while, but figure why not today.   Why does TB ticker say eggplant for like 2-3 weeks or something?  I don't know what fruit/veggie we're on now.

How far along:  26 weeks  (and 2 days)

Total weight gain: 13 lbs

Maternity clothes:
yes...and pants are not my friend.  The maternity jeans I got stifle the life out of me.  I prefer skirts and dresses.  My arse and hips are definitely bigger.

Stretch marks:
  no

Sleep:   Good!

Best moment of this week:  Going to the Ellen show last week, and then getting an awesome glider and ottoman for $60 this weekend.

Miss anything:  Running, sort of...but it is so far out of reach now.  Sometimes I'd like a beer.

Movement:  Yes!  I feel movement every day now - it is amazing!

Food cravings:   Watermelon, pineapple

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Sometimes if I'm tired, but mostly I feel good.

Have you started to show yet:
HAHA, yes.

Gender:   ?  Team GREEN!

Labor signs:
.

Belly button in or out:  It is my third nipple.  I wear undershirts almost every day to try to conceal it, it's kinda embarrassing.

Wedding rings on or off:  on

Happy or moody most of the time:   happy

Looking forward to:   My parents visiting next week!!!

Avocado and ciao for now

Sorry I've been MIA.   I have had more energy lately, and it feels good to be getting things done that I was too washed out to do a month ago.  Since I don't have so much time to write here these days, I think it's better to just say sayonara for now rather than slowly peter out.

If anyone wants to keep in touch, send me a PM and we can swap email addresses.  I'm not on TB too much these days (the BMB is pretty lame), but I do check my inbox there periodically (and lurk on TTGP!).  I might make another blog that my family can access, so if that happens, I can pass that along to the few of you that might be interested.

This week is avocado!  I've always thought it's funny that in French, the word for lawyer and avocado is the same.  How does that happen?  ;)

How far along:  16 weeks  (and 2 days)

Total weight gain: 5 lbs

Maternity clothes:
  pants yes...I like stretchy things

Stretch marks:
  no

Sleep:   I wake up at least once every night (to pee) but I'm still feeling rested, so it's not a big deal.

Best moment of this week:  Last Friday I had chamber music, yoga, and then went swimming.  I have energy again!  It is also warming up around here, love the sun.

Miss anything:  I guess I miss running but I try not to focus on that.  I have started swimming regularly and it is pretty awesome.

Movement:  I have felt little flutters but I'm not sure if they are the baby or not

Food cravings:   Citrus, pineapple, yogurt...

Anything making you queasy or sick:  Sometimes leftovers, or car rides, strong fake candle scents, car air fresheners, loud rooms

Have you started to show yet:
Yes, I have a little bump, but it's not super obvious

Gender:   ?  Not sure if we will be team green or not...I think it would be exciting to wait but our family would not be happy. at. all!

Labor signs:
.

Belly button in or out:  it is more shallow

Wedding rings on or off:  on

Happy or moody most of the time:   happy

Looking forward to:   meeting doulas this week, and my 16 week appointment with the dr, so I get to hear the heartbeat!

Thank you for your support, and for reading, it has meant a great deal to me through some dark and some joyous times.  I know we didn't have to wait as long for this baby as some have, but I feel I know a portion of what a mind fluck TTC can be, and sharing that roller coaster ride with others who understand has been a huge comfort to me.

I still check your blogs and look in on TTGP to see how you guys are doing.  I hope that you know that even if we haven't met, that I care, and I have tried to show that and be a sympathetic ear to you too.   Sometimes I'm not sure how well that comes through now that I am pregnant.  I worry that some jokes don't come across right or maybe some complaints seem vapid.  So if that has been the case I apologize and know that I have tried to be supportive.  I wish everyone the best on their journeys!  And just so it doesn't seem like I'm closing on a downer of a note...

Here's two minutes of nothing but goats yelling like humans.    :D

Lemon tree, very pretty

Hi friends!  Hope everyone is enjoying their President's Day.  As I write this I am looking out our window onto a playground full of little girls...it's pretty sweet.

How far along: 14 weeks (and 2 days), size of a lemon!  Makes me think of the Peter Paul and Mary song

Total weight gain: 2-3 lbs

Maternity clothes:  jeans for sure (just sick of the rubberband/bella band for the moment), but I still have other regular things I wear

Stretch marks:  nope

Sleep:  ok, minus crazy dreams.  I'm thinking it's less hormones and more demons.

Best moment of this week:  Announcing the news to my far away friends with a funny email.  Went whale watching with the hubby, that was pretty cool.  Also, NO MORE FIRST TRI!

Miss anything:  running, having energy

Movement:  all the books and people say you can't feel anything at this point but I wonder sometimes...

Food cravings:  oranges every day

Anything making you queasy or sick:  sometimes the smell of meat, or being tired

Have you started to show yet:  I have a little bump, but it's not obvious unless I wear a tight shirt and even then not really

Gender:  I was feeling boy but now I don't know anymore....?

Belly button in or out:  In, but it is sticking out more and was kinda uncomfortable the other day, a bizarre feeling!

Wedding rings on or off:  on

Happy or moody most of the time:   definitely had some moody days, especially if I don't sleep well

Looking forward to: getting back even more energy and figuring out a workout routine.

Time to go finish making dinner...making pizza tonight!   :)
